Glenn “Buz” Tarpley, 84, of Pampa, passed away July 4, 2018 in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 9, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, with John Curry, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Tarpley was born August 9, 1933 in Pampa to Louis and Ruth Tarpley. He was a 1951 graduate of Pampa High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from the University of Oklahoma in 1955. Buz married Jewell Moseley on June 26, 1953 and they had a very special and loving marriage. She preceded him in death in 2007 after 54 years together. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving from 1955-1958. After his discharge, he came back to Pampa and joined his brother Bill in the family business, Tarpley Music, in 1958. Buz stepped down from active management in 1995.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, traveling and playing cards. Buz loved being with his family and friends and he enjoyed spending time at the Hayhook Ranch.
Survivors include his son, John Tarpley and wife Shelli of Amarillo; his daughter, Carol Ray of Plano; his sister, Donna Ludwick and husband Jim of LaVeta, Colorado; five grandchildren, Leslie, Michael, Mason, Matthew and Max; two great grandchildren, Mack and Levi; and many nieces and nephews.
