Grace Cory Small, 94, of Pampa, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019.
Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Ken McIntosh, Interim pastor, and John Curry officiating. Private family burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Grace was born August 29, 1924 in Dresden, Kansas to Edward L. and Opal Fair Adams. She graduated from Borger High School in 1941 and went on to attend West Texas State College. She served in the USO in Palacios for several years after college. Grace married Robert “Bob” Cory on May 5, 1946 and he preceded her in death May 4, 1992. On January 8, 2000, she married Carl Small and he preceded her in death on March 6, 2016. Grace was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder; and helped with special needs adults at the church and was a volunteer for numerous organizations. She was a homemaker and helped her husband Bob in their business, Four C Acidizing and Well Service. She had an open-door policy to her home always welcoming anyone who needed a meal, a place to stay, or a hug and a smile. Grace and Carl enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. When she was younger, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, and loved to read. Family was very important to her and she looked forward to family gatherings. She was a wonderful “Grandma” and will be missed dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and 2 daughters-in-laws.
Survivors include her 5 sons; David Cory and wife Jan of Pampa, Darrel Cory of Thief River Falls, MN, Steve Cory and wife Karla of Pearland, Don Adams and wife Brenda of Amarillo, and Henry Small and wife Lynn of Houston; 3 daughters, Susan Tyler of Austin, Laurie Kieck and husband Cliff of Lookout, CA, and Ruby Moultrie of Pampa; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and numerous other family members.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Interim Hospice, 2217 Perryton Parkway, Pampa, Texas 79065 or Pampa Nursing Center, 1321 W. Kentucky Ave., Pampa, Texas 79065.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00-7:30 PM.
