Hazel Levena Cook Abbott, 93, of Pampa, passed away with her family by her side on June 28, 2018 in Pampa.
Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, July 2, 2018 at Carmichael Whatley Colonial Chapel with Keith Feerer of Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Abbott was born on November 30, 1924 in Weinert to Mary and John Cook. As a young girl her family moved to Morton where she attended and graduated school. Shortly after high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Russell Abbott on July 4, 1942 in Morton and they enjoyed over 56 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on October 14, 1998. Hazel and Russell move to Pampa in 1943 and she has resided in Pampa for 75 years. She was a long time member of the Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ. In her younger years, she worked at Montgomery Ward and she retired after 21 years. Hazel liked to work in her garden when she could, but what she loved more was her God and her family, especially the grandchildren. Mrs. Abbott will be greatly missed by family and her great amount of friends.
Her survivors include her two daughters, Lanora Ripple of Pampa and Jean Hicks of Sugarland; her son, Glynn Abbott and wife Karen of Abilene; by three grandsons, Lance Ripple of Missouri, Brad Abbott and wife Melissa of Aledo, and Jeff Abbott and wife Theresa of Universal City; by her four granddaughters, Stephanie Love and husband Paul of Richmond, Tina Beck of Lakewood, Colorado, Holly Brant and husband Arthur of Abilene, and by Sharon Mahaffey and husband Sam of Texhoma, Oklahoma; by her 16 great-grandchildren; and by 4 great-great-grandchildren.
