Hector Leal Sr., 68, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017, in Pampa. In keeping with the wishes of Mr. Leal, there will be no funeral services. He will be remembered for his kind heart, loving spirit, and the way his eyes would light up when one of his grandchildren entered the room. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Leal was born May 22, 1949, in General Teran, Mexico to Guadalupe Guevara and Benito Leal. Starting from a young age, his passion for automobiles was evident. After moving to Elsa, Texas at the age of 14, he began working for Bazan Carlot as a mechanic, working his way up to opening and co-owning L&L Garage. After moving to Pampa in 1980, he worked as a mechanic for the Ford dealership until his retirement. He then went on to work for Auto Zone in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma until his second retirement. His passion lives on through his sons and grandsons, who have followed in his footsteps, and have had great success working in the automotive industry. Mr. Leal was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Cesar Leal. He is survived by his sons, Hector Leal Jr. and wife Martha of Pampa, and Humberto Leal, Sr. and wife Miriam of Edinburg; his sister, Irma Leal of Rio Grande Valley; his brothers, Benito Leal and wife Rebecca, Noe Leal and wife Esther, and Hugo Leal, all of Rio Grande Valley; his grandchildren, Hector III, Melissa, Daniel, Constance, Serenity, Laura, Humberto Jr., Stephanie, Vanessa, Miriam, and Jeshua; and great-grandchildren Ella Marie, Abraham, Jessie James, Jeressie, Jasiel and Aldo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
