Helen M. May, 85, of Amarillo, formerly of Pampa, passed away, Friday, June 26, 2021 in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa with Bro. Gary May, son, and Rev. Tom Stribling, son-in-law, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Helen was born July 12, 1935 on the Johnson Ranch near Kellerville to Judson and Lillian Brown Johnson. She was a 1953 graduate of Wheeler High School. Helen married Melvin May on January 16, 1953 in Wheeler. and he passed away December 8, 2001. She had been a resident of the Wheeler and Mobeetie area until 1995 when they moved to Pampa. Helen was involved in the banking industry for approximately 20 years and later she enjoyed working with the public in several auction companies. Helen was a past member of First Baptist Church of Mobeetie, Central Baptist Church of Pampa and a current member of Paramount Baptist Church of Amarillo. She enjoyed traveling, displaying pictures of her family thru out her home and had a passion of researching family genealogy. Helen meticulously assembled genealogical albums for three generations of her family. She was a faithful wife, loving mother and devoted friend. Helen was also known as "The Bread Lady", making wonderful potato yeast bread and cinnamon rolls.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Jud and Lillian; and two brothers, J.T. Johnson and David "Teetie" Johnson.

Helen is survived by a daughter, Debbie Stribling and husband Tom of Claude; 2 sons, Jackie May and wife Pat of Amarillo and Gary May and wife Carolyn of Livingston; a sister, Evelyn LaJune Tipton of Amarillo; two sisters-in-law, Lois May Harris of Pampa and Melba May Robertson of Bay City; six grandchildren, Jackie Don May and wife Kellie of Mobeetie, Amanda Hatcher and husband Russell of Mobeetie, Brandee Hamilton, and husband Craig of Spur, Wesley Stribling and wife Anna of Rye, Colorado, Travis May and wife Rebecca of Austin and Clayton May and wife Jericha of Los Angeles, California; Thirteen great-grandchildren, Peyton Williams and husband Landon of Mobeetie, Shelton May and wife Breanna of Arnett, Oklahoma, Jayton Parsley and husband Landon of Amarillo, Garrett Childress and Jarrett Childress, both of Mobeetie, Kelsy Stribling and Collin Stribling, both of Rye, Colorado, Cory Hamilton, J.D. Hamilton, and Allee Hamilton, all of Sprur, Magnolia May and Miles May, both of Austin and Jubilee May of Los Angeles, California; and three great great-grandchildren, Kamdyn Parsley, Kyndal Parsley and Brecken May.

Family suggests memorials be contributed to Texas Home Health Hospice, 1934 Medical Park Dr. Amarillo, Texas 79106.

Visitation will be from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, June 28, 2021 at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
