Howard Wells, 90, of Pampa, passed away, March 13, 2022, in Borger.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with John McCall of the Somerville Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Howard was born on August 6, 1931, to Joe and Faye Wells in Sayre, OK. As a child, his family moved to Pampa, and he later played baseball for and graduated Pampa High School. After high school, he briefly attended college before returning to Pampa and joining his family’s moving business. He later went to work for the Celanese plant as an instrument technician. After his time with Celanese, Howard started his job with the Hidden Hills Municipal Golf Course, a position that he enjoyed very much and where he met many lifelong friends. Howard liked playing poker, pool, and really enjoyed going to Clinton, OK to the casino and he also liked going to the horse races as well. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His survivors include his first cousins, Larry Stroud and wife Debbie, Jerry Stroud and wife Brenda, Jim Stroud and wife Jan, all of Pampa, and Jackie Callahan and wife of Sayre, Oklahoma; special friends, Noreta Treadwell, Rick Smith, Dwinna Smith, and Reid Smith, all of Pampa; many second cousins, extended family; and all his close friends at the golf course and the Pampa Senior Citizen’s Club.
