Howard "Duck" Wright

Howard “Duck” Wright, 62, of Pampa, passed away November 13, 2019 in Pampa.

Celebration of life services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Grace Church in Borger, with Pastor Chip Watson of Soldiers for Christ Fellowship of Skellytown, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Howard was born July 8, 1957 in Odessa to Sara Rebecca and Herman Howard Wright. As a young boy his family moved to Borger where he attended schools and graduated from Borger High School in 1975. During high school, he met the love of his life, Donna Winegar, and they married after Donna graduated college on September 28, 1979 in Borger.

Howard was a man of many interests and talents. He enjoyed drumming and played professionally as young man with several bands & genres which included: country music and praise and worship. While in Borger, he worked as a welder for Conner Industries and owned and operated his own business, The Wright Stuff. In 2007, he and Donna moved to Pampa where he worked for Unit Drilling, Texas Department of Transportation, and later for Gray County. He also owned and operated his own cafe in Lefors, The Pirate’s Cove Café. Motorcycles were a major theme in his life. He found enjoyment riding with Donna and all of his brothers & sisters with Soldiers for Christ Motorcycle Ministries. His family was important to him, as well as his relationship with God which led him to the ministry where he was later ordained.

Howard never met a stranger and he could talk to anyone which made him many friends. He will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Wright of the home; two sons, Travis Wright and wife Shelby of Spring, and Bobby Wright and wife Amanda of Borger; four grandchildren, Cody Wright, Natalie Wright and Brynlee Wright, all of Spring, and Christopher Wright of Borger; his mother, Sara Rebecca Wright of Tyler; his sister, Susan Russell and husband Buster of Tyler. Howard was also survived by host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.  He was preceded in death by his father, and a sister, Nina Jones.
