Jack Wayne Sims, 85, formerly of Pampa died Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Dr. Roger Hubbard, pastor of Lake Tanglewood Community Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Sims was born on March 14, 1933 in Pampa to William McKinley and Priscilla Rector Sims. He grew up in Lefors. He and Donna Fay Washington married on September 26, 1952. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Sims, known to friends and family as Wayne, retired from Cabot Corporation in Pampa, working in the carbon black lab. Afterwards he and his son Jerry did construction work for several years. He and Donna moved to Dallas 6 ½ years ago. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching or reading old westerns, the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time in his work shop. Wayne never met a stranger and made people feel as they had known each other for years. He was a member of the Bible Church in Pampa.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his parents; and two brothers, Bill and Howard; and a great-granddaughter, Scarlett.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Sims and wife Mary of Canyon; daughters, Pattie Skidmore and husband Frank of Carrollton, and Teresa Gattis and partner Dennis Burton of Hale Center; brother, Harold Sims of Lefors; six grandchildren, Brandon, Amanda, Stephanie, Hollie, Terra, and Rickey; and 14 great-grandchildren.
