James "Jimmy" O. McCracken

James O. "Jimmy" McCracken, 94, of Pampa, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 in Pampa.

Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jerry Lane, pastor of Community Crossroads Church in White Deer, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Jimmy was born October 4, 1926 in Ames, Oklahoma to James and Elsie McCracken. He graduated from Pampa High School and immediately enlisted in the US Army. He served from 1944 and was discharged in 1946. On July 29, 1949 he married the love of his life, Betty Bural, in Claude. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before she passed away on March 10, 2012. Jimmy was a farmer and rancher most of his life, and he loved his cattle and loved taking care of them. He also enjoyed traveling with Betty, especially their cruises to Alaska. Jimmy was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of White Deer and was a mason for many years. Jimmy had a kind spirit and always had a smile. He will be missed dearly by his family.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jerry McCracken.

Survivors include his son, Larry McCracken and wife Ann of Harlingen; a daughter, Marsha Harmon and husband Walt of Stillwater, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Margaret Morgan and Betty Miller both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren, Scott Harmon and wife Jill of Blackwell, Oklahoma and Melissa Alford and husband Nathan of Glencoe, Oklahoma; 7 great grandchildren, Rogan Alford, Bailey Alford, McKenzie Alford, Harley Alford, C.J. Alford, Addyson Harmon and Isaac Harmon; and a niece and nephews who loved him dearly.
