James Dea Mooney, II

James Dea Mooney, II, 60, of White Deer passed away on December 13, 2020 in Amarillo.

Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 21, 2020 at First Baptist Church of White Deer with Rev. Alan Wilson, pastor, officiating.  Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

James was born February 11, 1960 in Fort Worth to James and Sharon Mooney.  He graduated from Bowie High School in Arlington in 1978.  After high school, he served in the US Navy, stationed in San Diego, California.  James continued his education at North Texas State in Denton where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education.  His career began with Lockeed Martin where he worked over 20 years training on aircrafts.  He was currently working for Hi Plains Filtration as a national sales manager. 

James married Angela Cox on February 13, 1999 and they raised 5 beautiful children.  He loved to be involved in soccer, whether it was coaching, teaching, or refereeing. James enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cheering on the TCU football team.  He had a humorous personality and loved to tell a good joke. 

James has been a longtime member of First Baptist Church where he also taught Sunday school.  He was also a member of Everyman’s Sunday School Class in Pampa.  James was strong in his faith and truly knowledgeable of the Bible.  He loved to share the gospel and witness to anyone he felt led to.  His family was so important to him and loved them dearly.  Being Papa and Knock-Knock to his grandchildren was special to him and loved each one of them.

Survivors include his wife, Angela of the home; his children, Krystal Mooney of Weatherford, Texas, Logan Mooney and wife Mariah of White Deer, Colton Mooney and wife Meagan of Pampa, Ryan Mooney of Weatherford, Texas, and Crystal Whitney and husband Russell Shaw of Weatherford, Texas; and 8 beautiful grandbabies.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
