James “Doc” Wells, 74, of White Deer, passed away February 13, 2018 in White Deer. Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Rev. Alan Wilson, pastor of First Baptist Church of White Deer, officiating. Burial will follow in White Deer Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Wells was born March 30, 1943 in Pampa. He grew up and attended school in Pampa. He was drafted by the U. S. Army where he would proudly serve during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. After the war, James moved to Amarillo for a few years, relocating to White Deer in 1981. He was a truck driver in the oil and gas industry for many years, working for B & L Tank Truck and several other trucking companies for several years. When he wasn’t working, James liked the outdoors where he loved hunting and taking his family on a yearly hunting trip. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, and will be greatly missed. Survivors include three daughters, Tenise Lacoste and husband Tony of Dripping Springs, Terri Smith and husband Billy of Kemah, and Delta Hartwig of Miami; a son, On’ry Wells and wife Jenny of White Deer; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents, Sim and Ola Mae Wells; a sister, Alice Mae Magnass; four brothers, Kenth Rose, William Price Wells, Donald Ray Wells and Eddie Lee Wells. The family will receive friends from 5:30-6:30 PM Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
