Jan Sanders Lockhart

Jan Sanders Lockhart, 87, of Pampa, went to be with her Lord on December 13, 2020 in Pampa.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Buck, pastor of Redeemer Pampa, and Dr. Roger Hubbard, retired minister, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Jan was born March 17, 1933 in Pampa to P.O. and Lucy Sanders. She married Charles Lockhart on September 4, 1954 in Pampa and had two daughters, Susan and Sharon. Charles passed away in 2011. He was a loving and caring husband who took care of Jan through the most difficult times of her life.

Jan was a lifelong resident of Pampa. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1951 attended West Texas State University, the University of Wisconsin and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1956 with a degree in education. She taught school for one year then worked with her husband at Gray County Abstract Company from 1968 until they sold the business in 1980. Jan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

She was a member of the Pampa Bible Church and attended Redeemer Church in Pampa. While watching Ben Kinchloe from the 700 Club, Jan heard the gospel for the first time, and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1983. Her life was changed from that point on. She was a wonderful Christian example to all who knew her. She loved giving to those in need and had many charities that were important to her. Jan was a generous person.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles M. Lockhart; her daughter, Susan L. Braddock and her grandson, John C. Braddock.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Seymore and husband Robert of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Ben Seymore and wife Brittany of Houston, Cade Seymore of Lubbock, and Jay Braddock and wife Jaqueline of Pampa; two great-grandchildren, Gianna and Charlie Braddock.
