Janie Kuehl

Janie Kuehl, 94, of Booker, passed away on November 23, 2018 in Booker.

Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, November 26, 2018 at Booker United Methodist Church in Booker with Rev. Scott Richards, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 PM Monday at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Mrs. Kuehl was born August 20, 1924 in Eureka, Kansas, and was a 1942 graduate of Pampa High School. She began her RN training at the Pampa Air Base before transferring to Parkland Hospital in Dallas. She married Richard A. “Dick” Kuehl on May 16, 1946 in Pampa. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2018. Janie had been a resident of Booker since 1957, where she had been a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker for many years before entering the workforce as secretary of the Lipscomb County Abstract, where she retired. She loved crocheting, needlepoint and reading. Janie was very active in the Booker community, volunteering at the nursing home and her church. She loved her family and was “Nonnie” to her six grandchildren.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Brian “Scooter” Kuehl of Pampa and Ricky Kuehl and wife Rita of Amarillo; by a daughter, Lindsey Johnson and husband Joe of Perryton; by a sister, Mary Wright of Goodrich; by six grandchildren, Kary Jo Carnes and husband Rodney, Lori Brillhart, Melissa Shannon and husband Scott, Linzi Kuehl, Chad Johnson and wife Kelsey, and by Justin Johnson; by five great-grandchildren, Bayley Carnes, Braxton Carnes, Jett Johnson, Tinley Johnson, and Graham Johnson.
