Jason Wheeler, 51, of Pampa, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at his home.
Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 13, 2025 at Briarwood Church with Pastor Jamisen Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 5:00-6:30 PM.
Jason was born October 19, 1973 in Plainview to Mark Smith and Jolene Wheeler. His family moved to Pampa in 1986 and he graduated from Pampa High School in 1992 and later went to Clarendon College to earn his certificate in Ranching and Feedlot Operations. On June 12, 2004, he married Angel Briggs in Pampa. Over the years Jason worked on various ranches including the Flying W Price Ranch, Harrell Ranch, and Indian Creek Ranch. He had a true love for cattle and the cowboy way. Jason had the knowledge of how to handle a herd; from sickness, to when to rotate pastures, to brandings. He took so much pride in his work. Jason was a true cowboy and a gentleman. He always demonstrated manners and respect to others.
Jason was an entrepreneur and started a gutter business and expanded to chimney sweeping. He operated Integrity Seamless and Chimney Sweep for many years. In 2013 they made a move to Ruidoso, New Mexico to simplify life and enjoy the mountain air. He operated his gutter business there until 2015 when they returned to Pampa. His love for cattle never left him, and when he returned, he started Which Way Cattle Company.
Jason had a refined palate for delicious food, fine wine, and fancy desserts. He loved to host people for dinner and enjoyed showing off his cooking skills. Jason also enjoyed taking people to nice restaurants for special occasions and to have a wonderful food experience.
He had a love of music which spanned many genres. Jason was a self-taught and talented drummer playing with various bands. Playing music from classic country to rock and roll. He also enjoyed classical music and attending symphonies.
Jason was a longtime member of Briarwood Church. He was a man of God. Towards the end of his sickness, he found what was most important to him; God, family, and friends. Jason had compassion and was always willing to help anyone in need. His concern for others was always on his mind. He will be missed by all who knew him. He loved his family and friends, especially his girls.
Survivors include his wife, Angel of the home; four daughters, Emma and Eleanor Wheeler both of the home; Hayden Williams and husband Hayden and Adley Stewart and husband Ross all of Murfreesboro, Arkansas; grandchildren, Cohen Williams, Addison Stewart, and Reese Stewart; sister, Dalene Hapeman of Amarillo; brother, Chad Hapeman of Pampa; mother, Jolene Coffee and husband Buddy of Pampa; father, Mark Smith and wife Betty of Lorenzo; and a host of extended family and friends.
