Jay Neill Urbanczyk, 69, of Pampa, died September 28, 2024, at his home in Pampa surrounded by his family.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of White Deer, with Rev. Hrudaya Raju Kondamudi, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in White Deer. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory of Pampa.
The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel.
Jay Urbanczyk was born on August 4, 1955, in Pampa. He attended school in White Deer and graduated in 1973 from Pampa High School. After graduation, he attended Texas Tech University but later graduated from Amarillo College with an associate’s degree in electronics. Jay married Anita Bichsel on July 2, 1982, in White Deer. Jay enjoyed golf, snow skiing, farming, ranching, and long-distance travels in his Semi truck, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish for over 20 years. Jay began his career working on the family farm in White Deer growing wheat and milo. Later in life, he realized his enjoyment of traveling, in 1994, he purchased his own Semi-Truck and began delivering goods from coast to coast. During his free time, when at home, Jay enjoyed fishing and water sports. He and his many family members would go to Lake Merideth, Lake Greenbelt, Lake McClellan, or Lake Childress.
In 2007, he began working for Hunting Titan in Pampa, as an instrument technician, until he retired in 2020. During his retirement, he enjoyed a laid-back lifestyle working on the house and the yard up until the time of his death.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Thelma Jo Urbanczyk; and his brother, Steven Urbanczyk.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Urbanczyk of the home; a son, Aaron Urbanczyk of Louisiana; a daughter, Cassy Summerlin of Amarillo; grandchildren, James Summerlin, Eve Summerlin of Amarillo, and Fynn Urbanczyk of Louisiana; his sister-in-law, Pamela Urbanczyk of White Deer; one niece, Chelsae Jo Urbanczyk of Houston; and his two fur-babies, Harley and Mookie.
