JB Minyard, 92, of Pampa, passed away in Pampa on Monday, July 30, 2018.
Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors courtesy of Volleys for Veterans Honor Guard of Amarillo. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
JB was born July 3, 1926 in Cordell, Oklahoma to Joe and Nora Minyard. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the end of World War II in the Philippines. He married Maud Pendergrass on September 16, 1950 in Wellington. She preceded him in death on February 8, 2018. JB worked in road construction for over 50 years. His last job was working with Lewis Construction until he retired in 2003. He had been a member of Central Baptist Church for 57 years.
JB was also preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Odessa and Lorene, Maudie Williams, Letha Campbell, and Denola McWilliams; four brothers, Elton, Glen, Bob and Bill Minyard; daughter, Tammy Henthorn; two sons-in-law, Randy Suttle and Jon Bender; and a great grandson, Westley Thomas Griffin.
Survivors include three daughters, Christine Griffin, Joyce Bender and Louan Suttle, all of Pampa; a son, Jimmy Minyard and wife Gina of Pampa; son-in-law, Dean Henthorn of Pampa; a sister, Florene Thomas of Henryetta, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, Deon Bender and wife Aisling of Dubai UAE, Jessica Bender Kohl and husband Ben of Paradise, Waylon Griffin and wife Caroline of Cary, North Carolina, Willie Griffin and wife Jeannie of Pampa, Anson Henthorn and wife Leandra of Canyon, Tamra Henthorn Turner and husband Greg of Wasilla, Alaska, Angela Henthorn Detten and husband Dustin of Coppell, Kaylee Suttle, Callie Coleman, and Jared Minyard, all of Pampa, Brandie Coberley, and Sherie Minyard McClure and husband Travis, all of Amarillo; 17 great-grandchildren, Daphne Aguilar, Zoe, Evie, Haley and Braden Kohl, Aaliyah Torres, Hayden and Braylin Coleman, Sophie Griffin, Wyatt Griffin, Kylie and Conner Detten, Samuel Henthorn, Luke and Ethan Via, Paden Stewart and Ashley McClure; many nieces and nephews; and a very special family member, Kristy Hutchison-Stebens and family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Friday, August 3, 2018, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
