Jeanie “Little Granny” Smith, 92, of Pampa, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 in Pampa.
Celebration of Life service will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Briarwood Church with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Smith was born April 29, 1925 in Bessie, Oklahoma and has lived in Pampa since 1953. She married Banie Smith on July 3, 1965 in Pampa; he passed away on November 13, 1988. Jeanie was a rancher’s wife for many years. She was a long time member of Lamar Full Gospel Church and Briarwood Church. She was very involved at Briarwood Church, where she led the children’s ministry for many years. She was known as “Little Granny” to so many, and the children’s church is now named “Granny’s House” because of her influence. Her passion was in children’s ministry, and she also loved making and displaying her dolls. She has made over 1000 dolls. Jeanie loved to sew, to paint, and most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include son-in-law: Charlie Ritthaler of Pampa; two grandsons, Todd Ritthaler and wife Melinda of Amarillo, and Tobi Ritthaler of Smyrna, Tennessee; and two great grandsons, Tori Ritthaler and wife Gina of Corinth, and Trey Ritthaler of Amarillo. Jeanie was preceded in death by her two daughters, Darla Jean Broadbent and Pat Ritthaler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Briarwood Church Children’s Ministry, 1800 W. Harvester, Pampa, Texas 79065.
