On June 23, 2019, Jennie Lee Barker, after all these years the greatest triumph has come, experiencing victory over death that has ushered her into the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior.

Jennie was born April 11, 1943 in New Albany, Indiana, to Marvin and Norma Funkhouser. There is where she met and married her beloved husband Ed Barker. They had 53 years together before his death in 2013.

Jennie attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, along with Ed. They were pastors for 44 years, serving churches in Indiana, Colorado, California and Texas. While living in California, she received a degree from the School of Floristry, and when Jennie and Ed moved to Pampa, she went to work for Clements Flowers. When Mrs. Clements retired, Jennie bought the shop and ran it for another fifteen years. Jennie was a member of the Heritage Art Club for many years. She loved painting with oil, acrylic, watercolor and ink, and took private lessons from Mary Cook and Theresa Maness.

Jennie was a K.I.D.S. (Kids In Divine Service) Church pastor for 43 years, a job that she loved dearly. She wrote many of the plays and skits performed by K.I.D.S. Church. This was her most favorite thing to do. She loved attending kids church camps and taking trips with them.

Jennie ran the office at Lighthouse Covenant Fellowship Church for many years. She was always there daily, making herself available. For those who dropped by with a need, she would provide a listening ear. She loved God, her family, her friends, singing, painting, crafting, flower arranging, playing cards, playing domino’s, her dogs, Mollie and Izzy, and she especially loved her turtle farm.

Survivors include a daughter, Kelly Beesley and husband Rick of Pampa; five granddaughters, Breanna Gilliland and husband Tyler of War Acres, Oklahoma, Layce Smith and husband Tyler of Corn, Oklahoma, Rikki Lauer of Pampa, Chelsea Gilbert and husband Aaron of Amarillo, and Meagan Scholz and husband Derrick of New Braunfels; 11 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jamie Funkhouser and Billy Funkhouser; three sisters, Debbie Eason, Tracy Freeman and Shelly Funkhouser, all of New Albany, Indiana; and special family friends, Chris, Sarah, Haven and Pratt Doucette.

Jennie was also preceded in death by her parents; her precious son, Dan Barker; and her brother, Tim Funkhouser.

Jennie was known by many as Ms. Jennie, Honey, Granny, Mom, and Sister. To all who called one of these names, she will be forever in your heart.
