Jennie was born on June 17, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Otto and Eiliene Spencer Gross. She was raised in Lefors and attended school in McLean. Jennie graduated from McLean High School in the late 1940s. After graduating, she took a job at M.E. Moses as the candy girl. While working at M.E. Moses, Jennie met Don McMinn and soon they were dating. The two were married on March 1, 1951 in Pampa. They were happily married for 60 years until his passing on August 23, 2011.

Jennie was a dedicated homemaker and mother. She was hardworking, always doing whatever was needed to care for her family. Jennie even maintained her own yard well into her 70s. She loved flowers and had the most beautiful garden. Jennie was incredibly determined; she once pushed her son’s wheelchair from their house to the school in the snow just so he wouldn’t miss class. She was a longtime member at the First Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday school class for the teen girls. Jennie was a caring and generous woman that would help anyone in need. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Jennie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Don McMinn; and her parents, Otto and Eiliene Gross.

She is survived by her two children, James McMinn and Donna Miller and husband Larry, all of Pampa; three grandchildren, Lori Perry and husband Brian of Pampa, Shelby Miller of Amarillo, and Amanda Miller of Alexander, Arkansas; two great-grandchildren, Brian Perry, Jr. of Detroit, Michigan and Layne Miller of Alexander, Arkansas; one sister-in-law, Berna May of Odessa; and a host of friends.

Jennie’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Ruby Slippers for the excellent care they took of Jennie and her son, James.
