Jerry Don Baten

Jerry Don Baten, 76, of Pampa, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 in Borger.

Services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Pearson, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Jerry was born on March 5, 1945 in Brice to Arnold and Ruby McNeal Baten. He grew up in Pampa where he was a 1964 graduate of Pampa High School. Jerry enlisted in the Army after high school and served as medic at Fort Bliss in El Paso. He married Malena Everson on September 22, 1967 in Pampa. She preceded him in death in 2011. Jerry worked in the oil and gas business for 43 years before retiring in 2011. He was a member at the Calvary Baptist Church. Jerry enjoyed fishing, camping, and napping on the porch. He was an ornery man that liked to give folks a hard time whenever he could. Jerry's world revolved around his kids and grandkids.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 43 years, Malena Baten; his brother, Gene Baten; one daughter; and one granddaughter.

He is survived by his three children, Brent Baten and wife Misty of Pampa, Earnie Baten and wife LaDawn of Amarillo, and Christin Chisum and husband Chris of Pampa; six grandchildren, Destry Baten, Clay Baten, Jacey Baten, Blake Chisum, Alyson Chisum, and Sydnee Baten; one adopted grandchild, a foreign exchange student, Carol Ribeiro; and numerous other family members.

The family will be gathering at 8365 County Rd 61/2, Pampa, Texas, 79065, the log cabin south of Lamar School.
