Jerry Dale Roberson, 82, of Plainview, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024 surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with Rev. Michael Varner, associate pastor at the Abundant Life Church of God in Burkburnett, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Jerry was born in Sunray on April 6, 1942 to Reginald Allen Roberson and Ethel Beatrice Murley Roberson. Growing up he played football and graduated from Miami High School in 1961. Jerry enjoyed his time as Kappa Alpha at West Texas University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science. In his early career he worked for the Department of the Army in Texarkana and as a personnel manager for Missouri Beef Packers in Plainview.
He was an entrepreneur at heart and owned restaurants, a tile manufacturing company, a check verification franchise, a roofing company, and a cattle ranch. Jerry’s hobbies included flying, hunting, golfing, traveling in his RV, skiing, cruising, and taking trips on his Harley. He enjoyed being a father and papa and could entertain you for hours with stories of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reginald and Ethel Roberson; an infant son, James Michael Roberson; an infant daughter, Melissa Gail Roberson; son, Matthew Steven Shackelford; brother, James Roberson; and sister, Brenda Pride.
Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Janis Stubblefield Roberson; his children, Beth Owen, Jennifer Penrose and husband Joseph, Jill Mason, and Scott Shackelford and wife Jacie; the mother of his daughters, Gloria Gibson and her husband Mainess; six grandchildren, Meagan Owen, Kathryn Penrose, Ainsley Mason, Blake Mason, Jace Shackelford, and Lissie Shackelford; one sister, Beverly Ash; brothers-in-law, Randy Stubblefield and Wayne Pride; sister-in-law, Donna Roberson; several nieces and nephews; and numerous close friends.
Jerry’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Interim Home Health and Interim Hospice and his special friends who helped Jerry during this difficult time.
