Jesus L. Hernandez, 62, of Pampa, passed away, January 21, 2021 in Amarillo.
Celebration of Life services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Iglesia Nueva Vida Church with Pastor Pete Hernandez, pastor, officiating. The rosary will be recited on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
The church asks for all attendees of the service to please wear a mask for the safety of others.
Jesus was born on April 10, 1958 to Maria and Victor Hernandez in Alpine, TX. As a young boy his family moved to Ulysses, Kansas where grew up and attended school. He later met the love of his life, Elena Natividad, and they married on June 27, 1976. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Pampa where they would raise their family and reside ever since. Jesus worked in construction most of his life, he worked for Ames Construction and JE Carlson and he just recently retired after 12 years of service. He was a generous man who always put others before himself and was always willing to help someone. His family was especially important to him and he always made time to be them. Jesus was a devoted man of God who studied God's word and pronounced his faith to others when had the opportunity. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and church.
His survivors include his wife, Elena Hernandez of the home; a daughter, Yesenia Hernandez and husband Evaristo Jimenez of Pampa; four sons, Gabriel Hernandez and wife Loretta, Noel Hernandez and wife Anabel, Jesse Hernandez and wife Tiffany, all of Pampa, and Adrian Hernandez of the home; five sisters, Ernestina Lerma and husband Librado of Juarez, Mexico, Manuela Hernandez of El Paso, Maria Luisa Cortez and husband Arturo of Victorville, CA, Maria Esther Sierra and husband Sebastian, and Maria Guerra and husband Aurelio, all of Dumas; four brothers, Jose Hernandez and wife Guadalupe, Juan Hernandez and wife Socorro, Trinidad Hernandez and wife Gloria, and Miguel Hernandez and wife Maria, all of Ulysses, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and other extended family.
