Jim Davis

August 24, 1934 — July 31, 2018

Jim Davis, 83, of Skellytown, took his last breath at home on July 31, 2018.

A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 3, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Skellytown, with Rev. Carter Pirtle, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Jim was born August 24, 1934 in Gladewater to Sarah and Raymond Davis. As a boy, his family moved to the Skellytown area where he would attend school and later graduate from White Deer High School. After high school he would meet and marry the love of his life, Anita Freeman on April 30, 1953. They shared 33 years of wonderful marriage and were blessed with four children before she preceded him in death in 1986.

Jim worked throughout the oil and gas industry for many years and was a longtime employee of Natural Gas Pipeline, retiring as a foreman after 31 years of service. He later married Donna Barbour in 1996, and she preceded him in death in 2008. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church in Skellytown. Restoring antique cars and dirt-track racing were his lifelong passions. Jim was a very talented man who possessed great mechanical aptitude which gave him an innate ability to build cars from the ground up and repair many types of engines. Above all, he showed unconditional love to his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Becky Downey and husband Jim of Pampa, and Sandra Douglass and husband David of Granbury; a son, Rick Davis and wife Teresa of Lubbock; four granddaughters, Jenny Benites of Georgetown, Angie Beyer and husband Jeff of Burnet, Stacy Cirone of Amarillo, and Stefanie Douglass of Granbury; five grandsons, Ashley Sandlin of Skellytown, Eric Davis and wife D’Ann of Amarillo, Phil Everson and wife Trudy of Conroe, Keenan Davis and wife Corie of Lubbock, and Chad Douglass and wife Keally of Granbury; 16 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; four stepchildren, Bryan, Tamra, Brent and Amber; and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Jim was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sharon Everson, two brothers, Ashley Ray Davis and Kenny Davis; and two sisters, Lynn Ricketts and Janet Rogers.
