Jim Hoch, 55, of White Deer, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022, in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 23, 2022, at First Baptist Church in White Deer with Brother Alan Wilson, pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Jim will be available for public viewing at the funeral home from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2022, and from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 22, 2022.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday and Friday at the funeral home.
Jim was born on September 5, 1966, in Mission Hills, California to William and Lois Hoch. He graduated from Quartz Hill High School in 1984. Soon after high school, he enlisted in the Navy in 1984, being stationed in Miramar, California. He was honorably discharged in 1988. Jim later began his lifetime career working for natural gas power plants, first in Kingsburg, California. He continued in the profession as a gas plant operator after he and his family moved to White Deer in 2001, working for Black Hawk Station in Borger. He eventually retired in 2020 and enjoyed a relaxing retirement.
Jim had many hobbies that kept him busy each day. He enjoyed watching television, especially when it came to cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. He liked to hunt, fish, golf, barbecue, ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and loved to spoil his dog. He used to pull Bill’s rope when he rode bulls in rodeos. Jim loved his family and friends and will be missed by all of them.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, William Hoch; stepfather, Elden Maricich; and brother, Scotty Maricich.
He is survived by his mother, Lois Maricich of White Deer; daughter, Stephanie Pence and husband Andrew of Georgetown; son, Bill Hoch of White Deer; three sisters, Diana Hampton and husband Bob of Middleton, Idaho, Debbie Pomato of Kempner, and Denise Cowan and husband Ernie of Buckholts; brother, Jim Maricich of Bakersfield, California; four nieces, Cindy Lynn Gardner and husband Virgil, Melisa Calhoun and husband Dewey, Whitney Lusk, and Sara Cowan; four nephews, Jesse Montgomery and wife Ashley, Kade Cowan and wife Tricia, Corbin Maricich and wife Keeley, and Reece Maricich; and numerous other extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope Lives Here, 429 S. Western St., Amarillo, Texas, 79106.
