Jim O’Malley, 62, of Amarillo and formerly of Pampa, passed away February 1, 2018 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Caprock Baptist Church in Amarillo, with Brother Gene Foster, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors in Pampa. Mr. O’Malley was born June 4, 1955 in Nampa, Idaho to Peggy and James O’Malley. He was raised and graduated school in Nampa. After high school, he attended college. Several years later, moved to Pampa where he met Fran Moore while they were both working at Allsup's. They married on September 10, 1982 in Pampa. Later his career took him to Amarillo where he worked in the radio, television and web design industry for many years, working for KAMR TV, and was a station manager for FOX TV in Amarillo. He really loved his job in web design and technology, but also had a great love for the history of Route 66 and was a big Volkswagen aficionado, talking at length about the air-cooled Volkswagen. Jim and Fran divorced for a time, but later found love again and remarried on June 1, 2001. Jim will be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend, and will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include a daughter, Rae O’Malley of Amarillo; two sons, James O’Malley of Vega and Cody Greenlee of Amarillo; three brothers, David O’Malley and wife Tina of Nampa, Idaho, Michael O’Malley and wife Shelley of Eagle, Idaho, and Leo O’Malley and wife Debbie of Morrison, Colorado; sister, Patty Sinsel and husband Terry of Nampa, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Fran, who passed away just three weeks after their second marriage. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
