JoAnn was born June 2, 1950 in Canadian to Warren and Mildred Good. She graduated from Perryton High School in 1968. After she completed high school, she started her family and lived in several different Texas communities. In the mid 80’s, she had the opportunity to move back to Perryton and open JoAnn’s Bar-B-Que. She married Robert McCoy on February 1, 1986. Her outgoing personality was contagious as she loved the friendships she created while at the restaurant. After serving the community for over 25 years she retired and pursued her love of baking. She worked for several years at the Seasons Assisted Living Community and continued to provide her sweet treats and baked goods for anyone who asked.
Over the years JoAnn received several community awards that she was proud of which included Perryton Ranger Fan of the Year, Kiwanis Workhorse of the Year, and Perryton Citizen of the Year. If you knew JoAnn, she did not like to be recognized for anything she did. She truly had a heart for giving to others. JoAnn was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Perryton, served on the advisory board at Wolf Creek, instrumental in starting Snak Pak 4 Kids in Perryton, and facilitated the Toys for Tots Christmas project. She will be missed by family, friends, and the entire community.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Linda Sue.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of the home; 2 sons, Scott Pingel and wife Tracy of Dripping Springs and Brad Pingel and wife Suzanne of Pampa; 4 grandchildren, Chelsea Keplinger and husband Blayne of Hutto, Lauren Pingel of Pampa, Jodi Pingel of Lubbock, and Austin Pingel of Dripping Springs; a brother, Gary Good and wife Tina of Amarillo; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
