John “Skidrow” Davis, 58, of Mauriceville and formerly of Pampa, passed away on April 27, 2020.
Private family service will be 10:00 AM Monday, May 4, 2020 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Mike Watson, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. We will be broadcasting the funeral service through our FM Transmitter at the funeral home. Once you arrive in the parking lot, we will give you the information needed to tune into the radio.
John was born May 15, 1961 in Pampa to James and May Davis. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1979. After high school he began his career in welding, working for various companies in the Pampa area. On February 16, 1991 he married Kim Gooch in Pampa. John became a Certified Welding Inspector in 2009 and in 2010 became an Authorized Welding Inspector. John and Kim moved to Mauriceville in 2011 where he worked for the Hartford Steam Boilers as an inspector. While in Pampa, he was a longtime member of Hobart Baptist Church and very involved in Pampa Optimist Club. He coached baseball teams in Pampa and in Orange, Texas. His hobbies included target shooting, golfing, fishing, riding four wheelers, and cooking out. John’s favorite holidays were July 4th and New Year’s Eve because he loved to shoot fireworks. He was an avid baseball fan especially the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include his wife, Kim of the home; his son, Caleb Davis of Orange; 2 brothers, James Davis, Jr. and his wife Theresa and Joe Davis both of Pampa; 5 nieces and nephews, Adam Davis of Pampa, Jacob Davis of Pampa, Stephen Fewell and wife Chelsea of Waco, Matricia Davis of Pampa, and Cassie Feo and husband Juan of McKinney; 3 great nieces and nephews, Adley Fewell, Sebastian Feo, and Sammy Feo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
