John Ferguson, 81, of Pampa passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Full Armor Fellowship with Rev. Mike Carlisle, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
John was born April 22, 1941 in Dierks, Arkansas to Clyde and Ozie Ferguson. He attended schools in Cove, Arkansas. John enlisted in the US Army at the early age of 16 and served for a short time. Pampa became his home in 1967. He married Mary Sharp on February 24, 1972 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She passed away on January 21, 2019. He worked numerous jobs before going to work for Merchants Motor Lines. John was a devoted employee, working for 30 years for the company, retiring in 1992. John owned and operated multiple businesses in Pampa which included Ferguson Bail Bond Services and Easy’s, Inc.
John was a 32nd degree mason and earned his 50-year pin with Pampa Masonic Lodge #966. He was a National Radio Institute graduate, obtained his pilots license, and was a board member of Full Armor Fellowship. During John’s younger years, he enjoyed fishing, doing carpentry work, and anything that had to do with electronics. He had a love for art and was a self-taught painter. John also enjoyed music, as he taught himself to play the guitar and piano. Spending time at the casinos was one of John’s favorite pastimes, and he seemed to be extremely lucky. He loved his family and will be missed by all.
John was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Earl Ferguson, Jr.; five sisters, Sue Yohn, Margaret Graham, Joann Durham, Tommie Parkhurst, and Terry Helen Ferguson; three brothers, Clyde Ferguson, Neil Ferguson, and Stonie Ferguson.
Survivors include his two sons, Terry V. Ferguson and wife Ginger of Weatherford and Steve Ferguson and wife Christy of Pampa; a daughter, Suzy Stewart and husband Kenny of Amarillo; step-son, Kelly Martin of Borger; sister, Kathy Armstrong of Borger; eight grandchildren, Ashlee, Ben, Caleb, Chase, Brett, Scarlett, Grace, and Nathan; 17 great grandchildren; and his special friend and love, Ann Pearson.
