John Harlan, 66, of Pampa, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 in Amarillo.
Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, January 15, 2018 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Buck, of Redeemer Church of Pampa, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Harlan was born on December 6, 1951 in Snyder to Helen and James Harlan. John’s father worked in the oilfield so as a young boy John lived and attended school in various cities and towns. In his teens, they settled in Crane where he graduated. John entered the oil field himself which later brought him to Pampa in 1976. Shortly after coming to Pampa, he met the love of his life, Patty Johnson, and they married on November 19, 1977. Mr. Harlan continued to work in the oilfield for a few years before entering the family business. When John wasn’t at work he liked to work on cars, but he really enjoyed riding his Harley and especially riding it with his wife to their home in New Mexico. John was a caring man who helped care for his entire family, and he will be greatly missed by his friends and entire family. Mr. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Sharon Allen and Carolyn Whitfill; his brother, Larry Harlan; and by his father and mother-in-law, Delbert and Aline Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Harlan of the home; his two daughters, Christiana Ragan of Pampa and Monica Anne Cook of Amarillo; a brother, Robert “Bob” Harlan and wife Cynthia of Pflugerville; his two sisters-in-law, Linda Gauthier of Waco and Mary Scott of Pampa; his ten grandchildren, Larry, Wade, Alex, Zack, Terra, Vanah, KK, Aaron Hernandez, Ruby Salcido, and Ciera; his four nieces, Angela Johnson of Hobbs, New Mexico, Mitizi Johnson of Tatum, New Mexico, Candy Adams of Abilene, and Candy Hattaway of Hewett; his five nephews, Trey Whitfill of Nashville, Tennessee, David Mack, Jr. and wife Sarah of Houston, Walter Mack and wife Shayla of Mount Pleasant, and Gayland Groves and Alan Craven; and by two special friends, Chris Middleton and Merki Martinez.
