Trey was born on October 10, 1977, in Pampa, Texas. As the youngest of three boys, Trey walked his own unique path, looking for challenges and adventures. At age 2 ½ Trey and his family moved to Clear Lake, Texas for 7 years and returned to Pampa as Trey entered fourth grade. He was a proud Pampa Harvester, class of 1996, participating in soccer, football, baseball, cross country, NHS, and FCA. He was an active member of the Pampa First United Methodist Church where he was baptized as an infant and confirmed as a fifth grader.
Trey attended Texas Tech University, graduating in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and MIS. While there he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He was a certified public accountant. He began his professional employment at Protiviti, a business consulting company in Denver, in 2001 and later became an independent consultant. In late 2023, he bought Telluride Property Management Company.
Colorado became his physical and spiritual home. His hunger for outdoor adventure continued all his life as he ran marathons (including Boston, Berlin, Chicago, and London), climbed mountains (including Ranier, Grand Teton, and Kilimanjaro), rafted rivers, camped, and skied the back country including in Antarctica. Trey was married to his former spouse, Sarah Jordan for eight years and they have a son, Cooper (age 9). Trey was then blessed to find his soul mate, Katie Boes of Denver.
‘Papa Trey’ cherished every moment with Cooper, whether exploring the outdoors, sharing his love for live music and sports, or simply enjoying life’s everyday moments. Trey made a point to attend the Telluride Bluegrass festival every summer. His love of music and the outdoors brought him into many rich friendships in Denver and beyond.
Trey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ann and Jim Haliburton of Vega, Texas, and Myra and Ted McCavit of Gonzales, Texas; his uncles, Jim McCavit, and JT Hill.
