Joyce Marlene Eakin Brame was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus on November 11, 2024.
Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 16, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Skellytown with Rev. Carter Pirtle and Rev. Dale Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Joyce Marlene (along with her twin brother Marvin) was born to Emmitt Mitchell and Jesse Bernice Frye Eakin on November 20, 1932 in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Joyce attended school and graduated from Stinnett after the family relocated there for her father’s work. She met William Morris Brame during her senior year and they were married on March 2, 1951 in Stinnett, Texas. After graduating high school, the couple made their home in Phillips, Texas, in a company house, while Morris worked for Phillips Petroleum E&P department. They welcomed their first child Pamela, and later a son Bruce. The family relocated to Skellytown, Texas in the fall of 1960 and this has been their place of residence until she moved to Meredith Court in Pampa in December 2023. She resided there until her passing.
Joyce Marlene, whether she went by Joyce, Marlene, Mom, or Mema, she loved and enjoyed her family who have many precious and wonderful memories of her sweet and special way she showed her love to each one. She was small in stature and a quiet woman by most accounts but had the fortitude and grace of a Proverbs 31 woman. She raised her children as a stay-at-home Mom, managed the home, and was a loving and supporting partner to her husband. They enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends, and of course with the grandkids when they came along. She also served as dad’s nurse and caregiver when he had a liver transplant in 1989. They enjoyed 59 wonderful years together until his passing on December 7, 2010. She was an active member at First Baptist Church Skellytown and served her Lord and Savior, Jesus, and her church family in many different roles through the years. Also, I’m pretty sure they are enjoying a taco salad up in Heaven today.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Morris; a granddaughter, Bailey Brame; daughter-in-law, Debbie Brame; her parents; her brothers, Kenneth Eakin, Marvin Eakin, and Cloyce Eakin; her sister, Betty Dilbeck.
Joyce Marlene is survived by her daughter, Pam Berry and husband Dale of Skellytown; her son, Bruce Brame and wife Jennifer of McLean; granddaughters, Kori Throckmorton and husband Josh of Tyler, Rhyan Sikorski and husband Jeff of Anna, Stephanie Ledbetter and husband Brady of Lubbock, and Kiersten de Jager and husband Franco of Amarillo, grandsons, Jacob Brame and wife Brandi of Panhandle and Zach Newton of Amarillo; 7 great grandchildren, Sawyer and Rowan Throckmorton , Caitlin, Carter and Charlotte Sikorski, Hunter and Ryder Brame, and numerous friends and family.
Memorial donations in her memory can be made to the First Baptist Church Skellytown or to a charity of your choice.
A special thank you to all of the thoughtful staff and caring nurses at Meredith Place, who made Mom’s time there special and for your loving care for her. Also, the nurses of Interim Hospice care for your special care to Mom.
