Joyce Peters, 81, of Pampa passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 in Borger.
Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. The service will be live streamed on the funeral home’s website. The family asks that face covering be worn to the service.
Joyce was born May 2, 1939 in Levelland to Otis and Thelma Wiley. She graduated from Levelland High School in 1957. On May 10, 1959 she married Ralph Peters in Levelland, he passed away on October 29, 2014 after 55 years of marriage. They moved to Pampa in 1977 to raise their 3 children. Joyce worked as a teller at Citizens Bank and Trust for several years before going to work for Simmons & Simmons Business Services. Later in life she enjoyed her time modeling clothes for Personal Touch Clothing. Joyce was a long-time member of First Baptist Church where she was involved in the choir, she led a bible study class, and she taught a Sunday School class. Joyce was a board member for GrayCares and was a volunteer for the Pregnancy Support Center. She also was a part of the birthday club, supper club, and the card club. Joyce loved to spend time at her cabin in Colorado, riding 4 wheelers, and going on the band trips. She had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on her face. Her family was special to her and she loved to spend time with each of them. Of all of the things she loved, being “Nana” and “Gran Nana” brought her the most joy. Over the years, Joyce had a group of special friends that she enjoyed getting together with and taking trips to the cabin.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Sybil Youngblood; 2 grandchildren, Jessica Cook and Caleb Cook.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Lisa Needham of Denton and Sherae Peters of Roswell, Georgia; a son, Derek Peters and wife Teresa of Pampa; a brother, Larry Don Wiley and husband Patrick of Burleson; 2 sisters-in-law, Joyce Peters of Lubbock and Peggy Gillespie of Harned, Kentucky; a brother-in-law, J.W. Youngblood of Conroe; 7 grandchildren, Jereomy Braddock and wife Diana of Pampa, Sarah Peters of Canton, Georgia, Halee Hindelang and husband Josh of Woodstock, Georgia, Brodie Peters and wife Sara, and Zachary Peters, all of Pampa, Chase Cook of Denton, and Katelyn Peters and fiancé Timothy Montano of Canadian; 9 great-grandchildren, Adalee Hindelang, Elijiah Hindelang, Annaka Hindelang, Natalia Mason, Natasha Mason, Brantley Peters, Brystol Peters, Tyler Litton, and Dylan Massey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
