Joyce Porterfield

Joyce Porterfield, 70, of Pampa, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 in Pampa.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, June 9, 2023 in Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Jeremy Buck, pastor of Redeemer Pampa, officiating. Burial and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Joyce was born October 6, 1952 in Dallas to Sim and Boyce Duke. After high school, Joyce attended a few semesters of college. On August 8, 1972, she married David Porterfield in Duncanville. In 1988, they moved to Pampa and that is where they made their home. Joyce was a homemaker most of her life until she had the opportunity to work her dream job as a librarian. During her time at the library, she was able to teach some computer skills to those who needed them. One of her most memorable experiences was getting to meet Bill Gates at a computer conference. Joyce was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She loved to fish, read, work puzzles, and most of all spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jerry Duke and David Duke; two sisters, Anita Duke and Linda Partridge.

Survivors include her husband David of the home; two sons, Jeff Porterfield of Borger and Nathan Porterfield and wife Lisa of Milliken, CO; two sisters, Patricia Burrow of Lake Arthur, LA and Marilyn Parker of Kingwood; and 9 grandchildren.
