Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Judy was born May 2, 1944 in Hereford to Carl and Gladys Brown. She graduated from Gruver High School in 1962. One week after graduation, she married the love of her life, Bill Steinberger. They married on May 30, 1962 in Raton, New Mexico. Their first ten years of marriage they lived in several different communities, landing in Pampa in 1973. While in Pampa, she worked at Citizens Bank. In 1981, they moved to Perryton, where she began working at First National Bank. Judy eventually went to work for Jet Well Service as a bookkeeper. She worked there for 26 years, retiring in 2011. Judy enjoyed doing ceramics, but most of all she loved being “GaGa” to her grandchildren and “Lady GaGa” to her grandchildren’s friends. Judy was also known to her family as their own “weather alert” person. Anytime storms would arrive near any of her family, she was quick to make a call to them to make sure they were watching the clouds. She was always concerned for them. Judy also taught her children about God. She had been attending Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses for the last 7 years. She loved her family dearly and included in her family was her dog, Tad.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Janice Boney and Barbara Brown; and a grandson, Hayden Steinberger.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bill Steinberger of the home; two daughters, Paula Smith and husband Steve of Pampa, Derenda Plunkett and husband David of Houston; two sons, Bart Steinberger and wife Rachel of Lantana and Dane Steinberger and wife Shannon of Rockwall; grandchildren, Ashleigh Thompson and husband Dustin, Shelby Smith and husband Charley, Harrison Steinberger, Aubree Steinberger, Miles Smith and wife Paege, and Marissa Mackay and husband Matt; and 11 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Senior Village Nursing Home in Perryton for their love and care of Judy during her illness.
