June Rowan, 86, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and formerly of Pampa, passed away May 9, 2019 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Scott Futrell, of Kentucky Avenue Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
June was born on June 22, 1932 in Goodland to Mattie Lee and Horace Wayne O’ Neal. She was raised and attended school in the Haskell area. After graduating high school, she would meet Marvin “Pete” Rowan and they married in 1950. They shared many good years together before he preceded her in death in 2008. June was long-time member of the Kentucky Street Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Extension Education Association for over 40 years, where she served in various roles. June worked for a short duration at a title company but mainly June remained home to care for her family. She was an active lady who helped volunteer and help others in need. June loved caring for her garden. Before Pete passed, June and he spent a lot of time flying in their private plane. June will be remembered as selfless and giving person who always put others before herself and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wayne O’ Neal and her sister, Elaine Cooper.
Her survivors include her son, Allan Rowan and wife Crystal of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her daughter, Marva Spain and husband David of Hereford; three grandchildren, Derek Rowan of Austin, Kathryn Winston and husband Dominque of Hinesville, Georgia, and Carrie Rowan of Garland; two great-grandchildren, Kiefer Thrasher of Amarillo and Zane Rowan of Austin; two great-great-grandchildren, Annemarie and Lillian Thrasher, both of Amarillo.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00PM, Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the funeral home.
