Keely Downs, 42, of Pampa, passed away on June 13, 2022 in Amarillo.
Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 18, 2022 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Buck, pastor of Redeemer Church in Pampa, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Keely was born June 29, 1979 in Pampa where she has lived most of her life. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1997 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from West Texas A&M University in 2001. Keely began her teaching career at Carver Academy in Amarillo before moving back to Pampa. She taught several years with Pampa Independent School District teaching at Wilson and Travis Elementary Schools. For the past 4 years, she has been a teacher with Lefors Independent School District, earning Teacher of the Year last year. On February 7, 2004, she married Jeremiah Downs in Pampa. Together they lived a very simple life, enjoying family time and following their children to all of their activities. She enjoyed their yearly family vacation together. The past few years, Keely has taken up golf, and enjoyed learning a new sport with Jeremiah. Keely had many friends and will be missed by all who knew her. She was involved in the American Heart Association and served as the Heart Gala coordinator for a few years.
She was preceded in death by her two grandmothers, Joyzelle McIntire and June Topper; two grandfathers, Bill McIntire and John Topper; and her step father-in-law, Keith Taylor.
Survivors include her husband, Jeremiah of the home; son, Ayden Downs of the home; a daughter, Zoe Downs of the home; a stepson, Jesse Downs; mother, Kathy Topper of Pampa; father, Mark Topper and wife Shirlene of Pampa; sister, Jennifer Read of Pampa and her daughter, Bailey Read and husband Tanner and their daughter, Goldie Joy, and Jennifer’s son, Evan Read; mother-in-law, Beverly Taylor of Howardwick; father-in-law, Johnny Downs and wife Brenda of Pampa; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
