LaJona Elizabeth Taylor-Reeves, 54, of Pampa, went home August 4, 2017 in the loving embrace of family. Services will follow as we prepare to lay her to rest with her mother, DeAun Taylor. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. LaJona, or LJ, as she was known to generations of friends, family, and horse-people was born March 28, 1963 in Brownfield, Texas. She was Jesus Christ’s biggest fan. Her faith and spirituality carried her heart to great heights. She now rests happily in His arms. LaJona loved horses and rodeo. She was every kid at the Kid Pony Show’s adopted parent and trainer, whether they liked it or not. Her soul thrived from the joy that horses and western life brought to every person she ever touched. LaJona loved most loving others. Her huge personality assured she never met a stranger. Her children were her entire world and she spent every day of her short time here assuring that they reached all of their dreams. She was a ferocious and fearless spirit who believed that regrets were pointless and all things in life were chances to learn. LaJona unapologetically loved rock music. Her friends remember life lessons as taught by the lyrics of a rock classic. She celebrated friends and her God through music and required it. She was remarkable and unforgettable, unique and kind. LaJona believed it mattered less what you have and more who you are. She never expressed judgement; she always offered an ear, a shoulder, and an open heart. She was preceded in death by her best friend, her mother, DeAun Taylor on August 4, 2012. LaJona is survived by her father, Johnny Taylor, with whom she shared incredible determination and pride of purpose. She is also survived by her daughter, Tristin Givens and husband Christopher, and granddaughters Braelei and Tarah Beth; and by her son, Taylor Reeves and wife Brandi, and granddaughter Kennedy. LaJona is also survived by numerous broken hearts that include cousins, aunts, friends, family, adopted children, relatives, non-relatives, dear friends, adopted mothers, adopted fathers, best friends, dogs, grand dogs, and any person who truly had the chance to know her. LaJona was proud that Tristin has her same compassionate and overwhelming love for her children that she did. She loved how Tristin is the first in her loved one’s corner and also the first to forgive. She loved that her daughter was tenacious and tough, determined and strong, and always irreverently wise. She loved that Christopher worked hard for his family and was always loyal to her. She loved nothing more than being “Punkin’ Pie” to her beloved granddaughters. She was proud of Braelei’s beautiful heart and uncanny intellect. She loved that Tarah Beth was tough and had a crazy good sense of humor. She loved the father that Taylor was. She loved the man he had become. She was his sunshine, biggest fan, whole heart, best friend and he will always love her “bunches and bunches.” She loved Brandi's deeply beautiful heart and how incredibly she loved her son and the family they had made. To Kennedy, she was “Granny.” She loved that Kennedy was twice as ornery as her father had been and that she would always keep her dad on his toes. She loved that she was the smart and sassy tomboy that she is. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you perform a random act of kindness in the memory of her spirit.
