Lajuana Ann Holmes Mayer

Lajuana Ann Holmes Mayer, 82, of Pampa, passed away February 5, 2018 in Pampa.

Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor of Briarwood Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Mayer was born May 18, 1935 in Pampa to Rufus and Marie Holmes.  She had been a resident of Pampa all her life, where she attended Pampa High School.  She married Bob Mayer on November 17, 1951 in Pampa.  He preceded her in death on May 31, 2002.  Lajuana owned and operated Nearly New for 18 years with her two daughters.  She loved her job and customers, and made many great friends.  Lajuana was a longtime and founding member of Carpenter’s Church.  She loved collecting clocks as well as many other items.  She loved her family and always looked forward to the holidays when all her family was together. 

Survivors include two daughters, Pam Dittberner and husband Chris, and Sue Campbell and husband Don, all of Pampa; a brother, Larry Holmes and wife Darlene of Pampa; a sister, Connie Hoke and husband Johnny of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Judy Robertson and husband Jim of Pampa; six grandchildren, Kimberly Brown and husband Colby, Michael Dittberner and wife Melissa, Brandon Campbell and wife Christy, Ben Campbell and wife Mayra, Elizabeth Day and husband Shon, and Chelsea Mayer and Leon Williams, all of Pampa; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew Brown, Collin Campbell, Clark Campbell, Lillian Campbell, Campbell Day, C’Aire Porter and Destiney Porter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Lajuana was also preceded in death by a son, Kenny Mayer in 2010.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
