Larry Mangus, 70, of Pampa, passed away on June 21, 2022, at his home in Pampa with his family by his side.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, June 24, 2022, at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Johnny Carter, a family friend, officiating. Arrangements and burial are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Larry was born on December 16, 1951, in Seiling, Oklahoma to Wanda and Owen Mangus. As an infant, his family moved to Pampa, later becoming a life-long resident. Larry worked in the oil field industry for several years starting at Brown & Root and later he owned & operated Mangus Oilfield Maintenance. Larry married his first wife, Connie Ross in 1968 and they had four children together. They eventually went separate ways but remained friends. Larry found love again when he met Thercie Grange and they married in 1983 and he was blessed with two more children. Thercie would later precede him in death in 2001.
Larry found another line of work when became a Private Investigator, a career that he enjoyed a great deal and was highly respected in the legal community. Larry also found enjoyment with gardening, fishing, but spending time with family gave him the greatest gratification. Especially during the holidays, he would lovingly prepare a feast for his family- loving every minute of it. Larry was a giving man who put others before himself and never met a stranger. He will be remembered as loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. If you knew Larry personally, you knew joy, laughter, jokes all too well- even in his last days he was still cracking silly jokes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; two daughters, Jessica Mangus and Kathy Mangus; and a son, Bradley Mangus.
Larry is survived by two daughters, Carol Ferguson and husband Shayne McClelland of Killeen, and Laurie Mangus of Amarillo; a son, Blake Mangus and wife Samantha of Pampa; five granddaughters, Nichole Ratliff and husband Walter Robinson of Killeen, Natalie Mangus of Pampa, Bethany Jones of San Antonio, Kimberly Merrigan of Galveston, and Haleigh Martinez of Pampa; four grandsons, Stanley Ratliff of Killeen, Richard Ratliff, Jr. of Austin, Jaden Martinez and Kaden Martinez, both of Pampa; three great-grandchildren, Nirayah Robinson, Nikayah Robinson, and Walter Robinson II, all of Killeen; three sisters, Sharron Finney and fiancée Don Hawkins of Pampa, Deloris Landis of Bethany, OK, and Karen Jones of Pampa; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
