LaVerne Priest of Pampa passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020 in Pampa.
Private family graveside will be Monday, May 18, 2020 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Ed Sattesahn, pastor of First Assembly of God Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
LaVerne was born to Hazel and Earl Henry in Midian, Kansas. She graduated from Will Rodgers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. On April 1, 1943 she married Delbert H. Priest; he preceded her in death in 1997. They moved to Pampa in 1960 to make their home and she was a homemaker most of her life. LaVerne was a long-time member and very active at the First Assembly of God Church in Pampa. She taught Sunday school, was a leader in the WMU, and was a prayer warrior on the church prayer chain. She faithfully prayed for her family, friends, and anyone in need.
LaVerne was a talented seamstress. When her daughters were growing up, she would look at designer clothes in a magazine and then be able to make them herself. She had a creative mind and could make just about anything if she could see it. Over the years she loved to watch all kinds of sporting event on tv, it didn’t matter what teams or sports were playing. She loved her family and will be missed by so many. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Karren Edwards of Panhandle and Deleana Linney and husband Michael J. of Muscogee, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, Michael Linney and Maya, Brandon Linney and wife Jaryn, Marcie Aguilar and Jimmy, Steve Spalding and Laurie, and Dedria Crain and husband Curtis; 8 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
