Lawrence Edward “Larry” Trujillo, Jr., 68, of Hereford, passed away, December 16, 2021, in Pampa.
Services will be announced at a later time. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Larry was born on January 22, 1953, in Raton, NM to Mary and Lawrence Trujillo, Sr. Larry grew up and was raised in a military family, so they moved throughout the United States and abroad. After high school, he like many in his family, Larry joined the military and he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines, Larry was part of their avionics team and was responsible for safe landing of aircraft on land & sea. Larry would retire from the Corps after 22 years of service. Once leaving the military, Larry enrolled into college and attended Arizona Western College. After he completed college, Larry would work for several years as an Environmental Specialist in Farmington, NM. Larry maintained his Marine Corp service as an instructor for the Marine Corp Reserve Officer Training Corp for high schools in both Farmington New Mexico, Lorena and Hereford Texas. Larry took great pride in assisting and training his student.
Although retired from the military, Larry was always close to Armed Forces and to the people who served. He was an active member of the VFW and the Patriot Guard and helped with many funeral escorts for other veterans. Larry was a talented man who was very good with his hands, his family referred to him as their “MacGyver” and he could fix anything and improvise with any tools available. Larry married Betty Jean Wilson on 18 June 2009, and they shared several good years before she preceded him in death on April 18, 2020. Larry will be a remembered as a giving man who put others before himself and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Lawrence E Trujillo SR; wife Betty J Trujillo; and a brother, Adolfo Trujillo.
Larry is survived by son, Jude Lawrence Trujillo of Springer, NM; two daughters, Terri Marie Trujillo- Black of Raton, NM, and Tonia Trujillo of Panama, Fl; his mother, Mary Trujillo of Pueblo CO; three sisters, Fatimah Backush, CO, Jo’ Trujillo-Oates, both of Pueblo, CO, and Bernadette Blevins of Milliken, CO; two brothers, Robert Trujillo and wife Betsy of Yuma, AZ and Victor Trujillo and wife Mary Diane of Kempner Tx; a granddaughter, Brandy Doss Panama City, FL; two grandsons, Bailey Trujillo and Gerald Trujillo of Australia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
