Leola Moxon, 96, of Pampa, and a long-time Lefors resident passed away December 19, 2017 in Pampa. Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 PM Saturday December 23, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Lefors, with Rev. Ken Houston, pastor of First Baptist Church of Lefors, and Pastor Lewis Ellis, assisting. Burial will follow in Memorial Heights Cemetery of Lefors under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Leola was born on November 4, 1921 in Leedey, Oklahoma to Gertie and Willard Newton. Leola was raised and attended school in the Leedey area. She would meet Marvin Moxon and they would wed on June 19, 1937 in Enid. They would later move to Lefors in 1943 where they enjoyed many wonderful years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 1992. Mrs. Moxon was a long-time and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Lefors. She was a faithful Christian who put God first and passed those values to her family and to her community. Leola always put others before herself and she welcomed everyone into her home ensuring they had a glass of sweet tea and something to eat. She was known as Grandma Moxon in Lefors and she was known to have the most delicious coconut cream and chocolate pies. Leola will be remembered as loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, great-great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and her community. Mrs. Moxon was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Wayne Moxon; her daughter, Loretta Caughey; her two brothers, and by her sister. Survivors include her daughter; Pat Seely of Lefors; her four granddaughters, Peggie Coleman and husband Cavin and Lisa Blandford and husband Larry, both of Pampa, Keri Moxon of Lubbock, and by Melody Mullen and husband Todd, also of Lubbock; her three grandsons, Doug Coleman and wife Maria of Amarillo, Kevin Moxon and wife Lois of Pampa, and by Craig Seely and wife Susan of Lefors; her 19 great-grandchildren; 38 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM- 7:30PM on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the funeral home.
