Leonard L. (Bob) Childers of Pampa, Texas, age 97, passed away on July 26, 2018 in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Pastor Bobby Harris of Amarillo Seventh-day Adventist Church, officiating. Private family burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Bob was born December 30, 1920 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. His parents were Albert Leonard Childers and Ethel Livina (Cory) Childers. Bob had two younger brothers, Donald and Albert.
Bob grew up in the Panhandle of Oklahoma and Texas during the oil boom days. He attended schools in Pampa, graduating from high school in 1938. He was a member of the high school tennis team, and won the regional championship. He attended West Texas State University for a short time, but due to financial hardship, was unable to continue college.
In 1941, he met Martha Aileen Lancaster in Borden's Ice Cream Parlor, and they married on December 20, 1941. Together they built their home in 1949, where he lived until the time of his death. They had two daughters, Sandra Kay and Bobbye Jean.
Bob was a homebuilder, and built many custom homes in the Panhandle of Texas. Bob was an active member in the Pampa Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he held positions as elder, deacon, and Bible teacher. He enjoyed reading, playing the violin and the piano. He loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Bob is survived by his two daughters, Sandra K. Adcox of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Bobbye J. Thomson of East Wentachee, Washington. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Denise Mosby and Brenna Mott, as well as step-grandchildren, Brandy Gonzalez, Brian and Eric Reim, Dan and Kevin Adcox and a special nephew, Dan Childers. He has two great grandchildren, Sydney and Taylor Mosby and six step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Aileen, (September 2010); grandson Jeremy Thomson (2005); great granddaughter Morgan Sydney Mosby (2002); brothers Donald (2007) and Albert (1996); and two sons-in-law John Thomson (2012) and John Adcox (March 2014).

Bob will be available for viewing from Saturday, August 4, 2018 until service time on Tuesday.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday, August 6, 2018, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
