Linda Joyce Palmer, 80, of Pampa, passed away on November 18, 2024, at home with her family by her side.
Celebration of life memorial services will be at 2:30 PM, Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Linda was born on September 12, 1944, in Arlington to Kenneth and Emma Lee Gray. As a young girl and after her father’s discharge from the United States Air Force, they returned to the family farm outside of Miami. A few years later, Linda moved to Pampa with Emma Lee and spent her teenage years here. Following high school, Linda would start her young family with her first marriage. Later, Linda and Richard would reconnect and marry on July 23, 1973, in Tacoma, Washington. In this marriage, they would share children from earlier marriages and have their child together, Bonnie. Linda and Richard would travel with Richard’s highly decorated service in the United States Army. After his retirement, they returned to Texas. Linda and Richard were happily married for 43 yrs, until Richards passing in 2016.
Linda loved her plants and was considered to have a very green thumb. She was an Eastern Star member and held several offices during her membership. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed reading western novels. She loved Louis L'Amour and collected all his works. The center of her world was her family, especially her grandchildren. Linda was a loving woman who was a natural caretaker who always put others before herself.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; son, Steven Cain; daughter, Teresa Cain Huffman; and by a grandson, Joseph Huffman.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Albers of Pampa; son, Robert Cain of Pampa; seven grandchildren: Braden and Sienna Albers of Amarillo; Christopher, Anthony, and Vincent Cain, of Arizona; Crystal Ann Smith of Pampa; Allen Huffman of Pampa; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; and her brother, Keith Gray of Amarillo.
