Lloyd Leroy Neel, 93, of Pampa, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 in Pampa.
Services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Erickson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Graceland Cemetery in Meade, Kansas under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Lloyd was born March 24, 1928 in Pratt, Kanas to Charles R. & Leda Klotz Neel. He honorably served in the US Navy during WWII. After his service to our country, he began his career with Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline, later becoming ANR Pipeline. He was 1 of 4 individuals that was there when the company started. There he worked for 40 years in many capacities, the last being Area Superintendent until his retirement in April 1990. He met his future wife, Betty Maxine Riggins in Dodge City, Kansas through mutual friends, and they were married on March 4, 1950 in Meade, Kansas at the St. John’s Lutheran Church by Rev. Homer H. Kurth. To this union they were blessed with two loving sons, Terence and Eddie Neel. The couple established their first home in Meade, Kansas, and then later moved to Laverne, Oklahoma, Woodward, Oklahoma, and eventually to their home in Pampa. Lloyd and Betty were faithful members of Zion Lutheran Church in Pampa. Lloyd enjoyed fishing, camping, and watersports. After retirement, he and Betty enjoyed their time together in their motorhome going to lakes in Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty in 2004; his father, Charles R. Neel; mother, Leda Golobay; stepfather, William Golobay; brother, Brandford Dalton Neel of Meade, Kansas; and sister, Donna Lea Holmes of Andrews, Texas.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, son, Terence Neel and wife Gisele of Farmington, New Mexico; son, Eddie Neel and wife, Veronica of Katy; four grandchildren, Nichole Campanella and husband David of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, Austin Neel and wife Renee of Belmont, North Carolina, Brandon Neel and wife Dorinda of San Antonio and Angela Gallup of Fresno, California; ten great-grandchildren, Brooke Smith, Evan Smith, Olivia Neel, Luke Neel, Landon Neel, Alex Neel, Alexia Neel, Shay Norton, Jade Norton and Avery Norton; one great-great grandson, Samuel Norton; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Memorials may be made in Lloyd’s name to the Zion Lutheran Church, 1200 Duncan St, Pampa, TX, 79065.
