Lois Calloway, 89, of Amarillo and formerly of Pampa, passed away December 15, 2017 in Amarillo. Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 18, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Calloway was born June 12, 1928 in Kelton to Ethel and John Gillenwater. As a young girl, her father was a tenant farmer so they traveled extensively with his work. She came to Pampa in 1956 where she resided until moving to Amarillo two years ago, but she always considered Pampa her home. Lois worked as a checker for Ideal Grocery for several years, and worked as a bookkeeper for Pampa Police Department and Ogden & Sons. She was a Baptist. In her spare time, Lois liked crafts and enjoyed sewing and crocheting, and she enjoyed gardening. Survivors include a daughter, Dana Taylor of Amarillo; three sons, Kenneth Taylor and wife Mary of Tyler, Randy Taylor and wife Doris of Amarillo, and Ray Conner and wife Theresa of Midland; stepson, Layne Conner and wife Sherry of Bryan; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and extended family. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; by her three husbands: Dan Taylor, Jesse Conner, Max Calloway, and by Buddy Briley; a daughter, Rhonda Wofford; two sisters, Louise Young and LaVeta Caskey; two brothers, Johnny and Gary Gillenwater; and two stepsons. The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:00 PM Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
