Lorenzo Gonzalez

Lorenzo Gonzalez, 78, of Pampa, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, in Pampa.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Iglesia Casa Del Alfarero with Pastor Augustin Vasquez, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Viewing will be from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 3, 2023, and from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, September 4, 2023, at the funeral home.

Lorenzo was born on August 15, 1945, in Candela, Coahuila, Mexico to Lorenzo and Mercedes Duarte Gonzalez. He grew up in Mexico and immigrated to the United States in 1964 at the age of 19. Lorenzo moved to the Texas Panhandle where he worked for C.R. Hoover as a farmer and rancher. Later in life he worked for several construction companies in the area.

In November of 1997, Lorenzo married the love of his life, Angeles Perales. The couple remained in Pampa and were active members in the community. Lorenzo officially retired in 2013, but he remained busy with all sorts of projects around the house. He will be remembered for his incredible work ethic.

Lorenzo is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Maria Mendez; two sisters, Esperanza San Miguel and Carlota Gonzalez; and a brother, Marcelino Gonzalez.

He is survived by his wife, Angeles Gonzalez of the home; five children, Ricardo Gonzalez and wife Patricia, and Carlos Gonzalez and wife Flor, all of Pampa, Danny Rivera, Hector Rivera and wife Angela, and Pedro Rivera; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Evaristo Gonzalez and Jose Guadalupe, both of Mexico; and numerous other extended family members.
