Louise A. Hogan

Louise A. Hogan, 95, of Mobeetie, passed away on January 20, 2022 in Wheeler.

Services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 24, 2022 at the Mobeetie Museum Visitor’s Center in Mobeetie with Rev. Tom Stribling, officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mobeetie Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Louise was born on April 1, 1926 in Mobeetie to William Almond and Estelle Evans Almond. After the passing of her father, she was raised by her grandparents, Dr. and Granny Redding, and her Aunt Sissy until she was five years old. Louise’s mother later married, Ruphert Orr, the only father Louise knew. She was known as “Dead Eye Annie” in her younger years for shooting the family rooster with a homemade bow and arrow. Louise graduated from Pampa High School in 1944. She married Robert “Chuck” Hogan, Sr. on June 3, 1945 in Pampa. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2006. Louise was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Mobeetie, where she taught Sunday school and volunteered as the church treasurer. She later became a member of the First Baptist Church in Wheeler. Louise enjoyed volunteering with the Old Mobeetie Texas Association as the treasurer and on the board of directors. She was an amazing cook that made every holiday and birthday special with her delicious meals. Louise enjoyed painting and needle point when she wasn’t too busy being ornery. She was a kind and godly woman that will be truly missed by all who loved her.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Chuck” Hogan, Sr., her father, William Almond; her mother and stepfather, Estelle and Ruphert Orr; and two children, Walter Hogan and Robert Hogan, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Geniva Hogan of Sweetwater, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Billy Joe Farrell and wife Tasha of Sweetwater, Oklahoma and Michael Farrell and wife Danilyn of Reydon, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister-in-law, Martha Lou Parker; one niece, Timera Graves; three great nieces and nephews, Angela Adornetto, Chuck Timmens, and Terri Lynn Timmens; and other numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
