Mardell Gamblin, 88, of Pampa, passed away on June 1, 2018 in Pampa.
Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at First Christian Church, Rev. Dr. Jeff Knighton, minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Gamblin was born January 12, 1930 in Pampa, to William F. Hawkins and Zula Hawkins. She was raised in Pampa, attended Baker Elementary, graduated from Pampa High School in 1948, and was voted the 1948 Harvester Football Queen. She married George W. Gamblin on August 18, 1950. She and George, along with their four boys were members of First Christian Church and Mardell and George were devoted members of the Lamplighter Sunday School Class. She volunteered her work in the nursery for many years and always helped anywhere she saw a need. Mardell had a deep love for the Lord. When not raising her boys, she worked at the Hobby Shop as a framer. She loved her work there and all the friends she made.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years and the love of her life, George W. Gamblin; her parents William and Zula Hawkins; brothers Bill, Red, and Dale; and her great-grandson, Max Wehrli.
Mardell is survived by her four sons, Kris Gamblin and wife Terry of Pampa, Marsh Gamblin and wife Sheryl of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kory Gamblin of Pampa, and Grant Gamblin of Dallas; four grandchildren, Stephanie McGee and husband Sam, and Jennifer Wehrli and husband Jeff, all of Oklahoma City, David Gamblin and wife Michelle of Celina, and Kyle Gamblin and wife Amy of Pampa; twelve great-grandchildren, Joshua, Silas, Molly, and Emily McGee, Rachel and Elizabeth Wehrli, Ella, Emerson and John Luke Gamblin, and Duncan, Gage and Gracee Gamblin; two sisters, Mary Claunch and her family of Oklahoma City, and JoAnn Enloe and her family of Anaheim, California; and many nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to all the caregivers for Mom who were headed up by Melissa Palacios, Tonya Garza and Donna Pettit in Mardell’s last days. In addition, the family extends gratitude to Interim Health Care & Hospice, and Rev. Dr. Jeff Knighton of First Christian Church of Pampa.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 PM Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
