Mark “Pooh Bear” Alan Hicks, 52, of Pampa, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 in Pampa.

 

Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 1, 2023 at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jimmye Cole, retired Nazarene pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

 

Mark was born to Robert and Grace Nye Hicks on September 3, 1970 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. His family moved to Durango, Colorado when he was in elementary school. After high school, Mark began working with his dad. He held many jobs throughout his life. Most recently he worked in a glass factory. Mark moved to San Angelo in 2006. He later met his wife, Melodie, while working at the Salvation Army. He worked in maintenance and claimed Melodie’s office was always in need of some sort of repair. Mark enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting. On Sundays, you could find him rooting for his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. Mark also enjoyed spending time with animals, especially his dogs.

 

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hicks; one brother, Bobby Hicks; and two grandchildren, Ryder Hicks and Blakelee Hicks.

 

He is survived by his wife, Melodie Hicks of the home; two children, Niko Hicks and Brody Hicks and wife Savanna, all of San Angelo; his mother, Grace Hicks of Dauphin, Pennsylvania; five siblings, Susie Pechart and husband John of Dauphin, Pennsylvania, David Hicks and wife Christy of Durango, Colorado, Sally Gofhus of Middletown, Pennsylvania, Jimmy Hicks of Pennsylvania, and Randy Hicks of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Lincoln Hayes Hicks, Jacen Cowen, Ailah Cowen, Josef Cowen, and Aspen Cowen, all of San Angelo; his ex-wife, Dawn Seagler of San Angelo; two sisters-in-law, Mandy Stephenson of Amarillo and Angela Anderson of Pampa; one brother-in-law, Brian Anderson of Lubbock; his five dogs, Speckles, Willie, Catniss, Maggie, and Belle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
